The Republican Party backs small government, individual freedom and self-reliance.

At the 2015 County Convention, these four Republican Principles were adopted by the Fannin County Republican Party , then unanimously adopted at both the District 9 Convention and the Georgia State GOP Convention that year:

  1. I believe in individual responsibility and freedom from government control.
  2. I believe that government has become too big and should be reduced on all levels.
  3. I believe that decisions should be made as locally as possible. For example, individuals make better decisions about their affairs than governments do.
  4. I believe that governments should live within their means, and not burden future administrations or generations of taxpayers with debt.

At the 2023 County Convention, the Fannin GOP approved a resolution calling for every candidate wishing to run for office as a Republican candidate to sign the Republican Candidate Pledge with the four principles.

Republican Candidate Pledge

(For all those who wish to campaign as Republicans and ask for the support of the Republican Party)

1. I believe in individual responsibility and freedom from government control.

If elected I will work to reduce government control and involvement in our lives, our businesses and our
communities. I will work to shift more responsibilities to the individual…this means fewer services and
entitlements provided by the government with taxpayer money. _______ (initial)

2. I believe that government has become too big and should be reduced on all levels.

If elected I will work to reduce the size and cost of government on all levels, thus reducing taxes. I will work to
return jobs and opportunities to the private sector while reducing the government bureaucracy and payroll.

If elected I will work to restore individual liberties to include healthcare, property rights and lower taxes and

If elected I will stop borrowing money for projects that cannot be paid for within the present term I am serving. I
will also work to pay off all current debts within my present term of office and I will work to eliminate all
programs that carry-over financial commitments to future budgets. ______ (initial)
