At last night’s meeting, there were three speakers and significant news on continuing and new business. Congressman Andrew Clyde’s representative Jackson Carter noted that the congressman attended this year’s March for Life in Washington, and that the 2022 elections are an opportunity for the Republican Party to take back the U.S. House and Senate. Suzanne Stepp Davenport, the Pharmacist at Southern Drug Company, described the growth of the pharmacy from starting with 4 employees to having a team of 16 now. During the past two years, the pharmacy has provided Covid-19 tests and vaccines, has provided monoclonal antibody therapy to over 100 people, and just last week started also providing an antiviral pill. Gary Zingler told of his success as a football player and coach as well as a business man due to commitment and hard work. He emphasized the importance of accountability in all walks of life.
In continuing business, Chairman Frank Wood announced the Valentine’s Banquet would be on February 12th at Tooney’s Music Venue in McCaysville. Ticket sales will be online and also available at the office of Doss and Associates. Several tables have already been sponsored. Lynn Doss said that only 350 tickets can be sold and that they are available on a first come, first served basis.
In new business, there was a discussion and vote to establish a Fannin GOP headquarters for the 2022 election campaign. Sponsors have already promised to cover the rental expense for 5 1/2 months for the selected location. The Chair of the Election 2022 Committee is Larry Henderson, and all precinct captains will be members of the committee. Meeting attendees also voted for Fannin GOP to join the Chamber of Commerce.
